for me the hardest goal to acheive in every essay would be to intergrate and document all summariies, paraphrases and direct quotations, and and include a works cited page correctly, i chose this one because putting it all together in MLA format is not hard, but doin it correctly is.,

and articulate and maintain controlling purposes that reflect not only what matters to those who read it but me as a writer. this all seems difficult because i will never know who my true audience is.

My Strategy

The two goals I need to work on is maintain a controlling purpose and maintain clarity throughout my paper. To help me maintain a controlling purpose I could ask people to help me. Maybe I could go to the Writing Center and get some pointers from them. That goes to the second goal as well. I believe that if I just ask for help I will do better on my papers.

Working harder

The two goals i need to incorperate unto my future work for the final portfolios are to put more of my opinion into my work, and also use the key concepts and terms into my work. I can do these things by reading the student guide, and using it as the basis of my paper. I can also use the key terms and concepts and study them, and use them into my work. If i do these 2 things i think my papers will be a lot better and will certainly be good enough for the final portfolios assesments. I also need to get my work turned in on time, still workin on it!

Goals Are Hard (ouch!!)

The two goals hardest for me to depict and describe would be, firstly, situate the writing and perspective in relation to arguments, interests and concerns of other writers, readers and text, because i sometimes am melodramatic and a bit sarcastic in my writing. The way i articulate and raise or not raise questions is discernible. Basically i have to make the assignment fit me and set goals once the main idea is out and set-up. Secondly, describing how design, arrangements and other material conditions of text shape a readers understanding. I am some what sloppy and confusing with my lack of double spacing and inadequate knowledge of MLA format. Also, i can be choppy and unorganized in how i separate a paper. This is important because all good writing has proper breaks like poetry that can really add or detract from a good piece of writing. As for appearance and arangement; i just do what feels right and what i remeber from rigid formality in school. Therefore, i need to improve.

Learning exercise

I think that the feedback from the exercise was good. it helped me read over one of my essays and see alot of the mistakes that I made in grammar. The best thing was seeing how I summarized things and make them shorter than needed. I saw that I can expand on my ideas and make thing more off of just one word. I didn't really even know you could even do this track changes on word. So I had to learn how to do that. the track changes really made me look over my essay and figure out why I write the things that I do that was nice. It was a good experience

Working Strategy

I would say working strategy's depends on who you are. If it is me I like to read through a essay first and go through each paragraph to make up a thesis as I read each and get the points I like to come out of my essay. then I work on the into and conclusion and that usually helps me find the main purpose of my essay that I usually make the title. When revising I read it over, but I notice how stupid I sound with some of my grammar and can't believe some of the stuff I wrote on there. the mistakes are only human so o well. this past time we had a work group so I used the notes they wrote mostly on the goals that they wrote. I did expand a lot and it was a good strategy to do it made my paper a page longer so that helped. it all depends on working strategy I guess to get it done.

idea vs. belief

To be able to write on any topic, first a belief in the subject has to be established. To be able to write on a topic and make it good, knowledge is needed. Anyone can easily push what they know is true, their belief, on someone. With or without substantial evidence on their belief, they can make their point and still sound smart. In the end though, those who are truly able to write, take time to find the facts, whether it disagrees with what they are talking about.
Most people fall into the category of those with beliefs, practically we all do. We all have something that we feel strongly about and know for a fact that it is true. But once that belief is there in our mind, it is not an easy task to change. That is the one subject that someone will either put up or shut up when around you. In the end those with nothing but belief, are confined to the truth that they will never grow. They will be stuck to their belief and never venture out of their protected establishment.
Those with faith, have belief in that faith and all its teachings. In turn, they are influenced heavily by their faith because they know it as true. When presented by an opposing view, they take the offensive and defensive to defend their belief and change the belief of the contradicting view. So imbedded by their belief, they give no other idea the chance to let them make an impression. Disregarding and tossing aside any outside knowledge that does not agree, leaves those so blinded by their own belief that they never have the chance to gain knowledge.
Knowledge is more than having the truth, because the truth can always be contradicted. The truth is never true; it is only true to those who believe it is true. Knowledge is about having both sides, having the views of both truths. To be able to see from inside looking out and the outside looking in allows the vision of true knowledge. To gain the insight of not only your side, but the opposing side gives you the advantage to both agree and disagree with anyone's belief.
"I think it's better to have ideas. You can change an idea. Changing a belief is trickier. Life should malleable and progressive; working from idea to idea permits that. Beliefs anchor you to certain points and limit growth; new ideas can't generate. Life becomes stagnant." (Dogma) Summing up everything, have beliefs, yet be open to ideas. Continually gain knowledge to maybe even help establish a better understanding of your own belief.
