The type of feedback that I'm used to is the usual revising. For instance, correcting grammatical errors, correcting fragments, putting in suggestive ideas, and etc, etc, etc. Even though this is just the basic revising I find it really useful b/c it lets the writer know what is suggested to be corrected and by putting in some suggestive ideas it can also benefit the writer, for example, the writing can be more interesting or it can help give the writer more evidence to help support what the writer is writing about. The type of feed back that I'm looking for are of course the usual revising, and for the reader to let me know if my paper is interesting or boring, and if I should change some of the statements that I wrote.

The type of feedback I'm used to is usually feedback that is really generic. The person giving the feedback usually asks way to broad of questions and really don't give that good of feedback. My last English teacher gave the worst feedback ever. She would ask questions like, "So what does that mean" after i just explained what it meant in my paper. She was just very confusing and plus i couldn't even read her handwriting sometimes. So in the end my paper never got better because i had no clue what she was asking. That's how a lot of my feedback was.

The type of feedback I want is very simple. I would like it if the person has a question to evaluate on the question. Tell me what you mean or give me an example of what you mean. Also i like feedback that is clear and straight to the point. Just tell me what I'm doing wrong and give an example of how I can do better. The key thing for me is examples. Some people speak in different ways so by giving an example of what you mean you can be sure the person you are giving feedback to will understand.

Honestly, I can remember one instance where I received feedback that I actually utilized. It was last the semester, the first time I attempted this class, I was told by the reader about my word usage, and how I tend to say things without a direct focus, for instance, saying something along the lines of "times such as these" as opposed to "this time." My interpretation pieces tend to be poetic and opinionated as opposed to thought-provoking and factual. Also he stated that my sentences were often too short, and I should look into the usage of commas and semi-colons. And since then I have taken more care toward my writing and notice how it would sound to the reader and not just myself. So essentially the feedback was effective, once. I would prefer feedback that states how my essay was a brilliant masterpiece, but who wouldn't?? As far as effectual feedback, specific details and examples throughout the paper are the most helpful. When someone can circle and add words in pen to your typed up piece, so that you can physically see what the evaluator is trying to tell you, is much more helpful than reading a list through a questionnaire.

Critical Critiques

Throughout my writing career I've always had someone check over or read my writing. In high school there was a time of immense critiquing on all assignments freshman year. My papers mainly were grammatically checked for spelling mistakes and punctuation errors. Also, in my sophomore writing class's there was group and peer editing and revisions. Basically, we went through the universal writing cycle of revision which is, rough draft, grammar, revise, edit and type it again. The only good insight came from the teacher and that was to correct your papers subject if it was way off basis or didn't make sense, other wise you were on your own. This style of writing is effective but not necessarily good for growth as a writer. It was effective because your papers were neat and organized and didn't have any spelling mistakes. However there was no judgement on sentence structure, flow and things of that nature until you received your grade. Which by the time you received your grade you were over it and on to the next assignment.
What i would like to see from feedback in groups is solid writing revisions (grammar, sentence structure, punctuation) and mainly feedback that will help me get an A on my portfolio. I would like to see ruthless efficiency in my peer editors and hope they hold nothing back when critiquing my paper. I would like them to treat my paper as if it were their own and help me out with any structural mistakes, word choices, or irrelevant statements.

I'm used to getting feedback, not as much about punctuality, as much as adding more details to make it interesting.  You got to get creative and get your reader into what you're saying, not just using big words, but maybe be funny or use good examples of your point.  Also, you have to use more technical terms. The key is to not overdue it, though.  Improving in these areas is the type of feedback I desire to receive to help make me a better overall writer.  Show me where I could use more detail and where it was overdone.

Over the years i have received many different types off feed back but normally its all the same, i guess you could say that feed back is a genre. Usually when i look for feedback on my papers i get short brief responses unless its from a teacher. This type of feed back is normally blunt, right to the point and somewhat generalized. The feed back i get is more about little things as opposed to a main idea. The effectiveness of this type of feedback is its not too effective at all. Since the responses you get to your paper are brief and somewhat blunt that translates to the effectiveness of the feedback. The more feed back you get and the more in depth it goes has a direct tie to the quality of the feed back. When looking for the feedback i would like on my own papers it would have to be a type of feedback which is in depth and looking at the over all paper as opposed to just little points. The feedback would have to be from someone who isn't trying to fly though the paper to get corrections made it would be from someone who is taking their time to find the most mistakes they could. Also a main point i would like in my feedback is more ideas to add to the paper which i normally don't get when receiving feedback. Along with this i would like to see feedback which gives me ideas about how to arrange my points. If i got feedback of this nature i feel my papers and overall writing would improve.

I guess the type of feedback I am use to getting is correcting sentences that don't make sense. Sentences that I probably stopped on to think about and just wrote again. The experience of the feedback is usually good, because then I think back to what I was thinking and rewrite the sentence. Usually that is the kind of feedback that I like to get, but there are somethings like I like to see if they agree or disagree with my interpretation and they can give me ideas. They sort of give me a different perspective on the interpretation, that I can add to my essay.
