'academic' writing for me

i feel that academic writing is both a good and a bad thing. good in ways that it is intellectually correct to write proper and with academic intellect. but i feel it is bad because it sometimes takes up to much time when not done properly, and it also looks horribly if written incorrectly, which in my experiences is the most common. the goals suggest that our academic writing should be in explained in excellent detail, as well as cover many goals that pertain to proper writing, as well as making sure our audience is able to comprehend what it is we are writing about. i feel that the assignments dont suggest much on what our writing should be about other then a general direction. this can be confusing to many. the course reader doesnt seem to suggest what academic writing is bluntly, but rather indirectly. the course reader does this with the pieces that are pertained in it. the pieces show in depth detail, elaborate sentences, and for the most part they give the audience a good perspective on the topic of which it was written about. i wish academic writing could come as easy to everybody as riding a bike. but its not for most people, but with all the practice we have been putting in this semester we are striding towards bettering our writings.
