I feel that good or bad academic writing is way to get you ideas out to a audience, which is what every writer wants right. Good things about academic writing is using your ideas and projecting them from your head into others ears. I would say a bad thing about this is sometimes your ideas become clouded when you become biased. Another bad thing is that it is very confined and structured to the point where you have to follow a format of the 5 paragraph structure and it is to easy to fall into making your ideas confusing to the reader. The goals suggest that your writing should be structured, interpret, and be clear and concise about your subject you are projecting ideas from. I think the assignment does suggest almost the same thing but for some reason the assignment makes you feel that you have space to maybe go off on a tangent and get away from your idea a little and come up with newer ideas on the subject, or at least that what happens to my papers sometimes. I seem to get my ideas not as clear and concise as I want them to be. This is also a negative about academic writing.
