Strategies for Writing Assignments

I think the two most challenging Goals and Outcomes for me to achieve in my writing are:

1.) Articulating and maintaining a controlling purpose that refelcts not only what matters to the writer but alsowhat matters to those who are addressed in my writings and what matters to those who are being responded to.

2.) Situating my writing and perspectives in relation to the arguments, interests, and concerns of other writers, readers, and texts.

Both of these Goals and Outcomes seem to require a thorough understanding of my audience's interests, and needs from me as a writer. This requires giving equal, and maybe more, weight to what my audience's interests and needs are, opposed to solely writing from the position of what I think, feel, and want.

My strategy for writing my papers will be to:

• Give careful thought and consideration to who I think my audience are and their interests; for example, what would they really like to know?
• Stay focused on the arguments I make, and provide only relevant information, and good examples.
