I think the facebook status used in the context of the article could be compared to avant-garde poetry. Creative people can express themselves through this "is" column. What i mean is that any notion or esoteric comment can produce querys by other people or laughter by friends. This facebook invention of "is status" is revolutionizing the "away message" of aol because you have pictures and other past comments to go with it. It could end up turning into a book of interesting is statements that reflect on mental or current events/culture.

Its an idea of always trying to come up with something great, even on something as small as facebook with status up dates It's interesting because I don't put too much thought into my updates, I usually try and find something I saw or something that relates to my interests. But its also a social network and just like in person its a quick message of stating what you have been doing.

what makes a facebook status unique ? i think the answer to this question has more then one answer and is open to interpretation. i guess in my opinion it has to follow a certain criteria. first off it has to be something spontaneous, something which you wouldn't just say to someone in a conversation. another route the facebook status could take is it could be something which pertains or is relevant to you at the time. facebook statuses range from what you are doing to something completely random. mainly the good statuses have some sort of poetic sense to them. they contain more meaning then what the words seem to show, somewhat of a hidden meaning behind the words written, they draw some thought from the reader.
